Store Limes at room temperature for several days. They can also be placed in plastic in the refrigerator for up to five months. Whole limes should never be frozen. Fresh lime juice should be used within a day because it loses its freshness. However, lime juice and sectioned limes can be frozen.
Limes can be sliced and used as garnish on drinks and fish dishes. They also can be used to flavor drinks, marinades and salad dressings. Lime zest adds flavor and texture to a variety of dishes as well as serving as a garnish. The lime flavor is a good complement to meat and fish dishes. Lime juice can be made into a syrup for flavoring cooked dishes. Limes are known for their use in mixed drinks.
